Please remember it's not a big lavish Las Vegas type place. They have theme nights and specialties on weekends as well. There is also a sugar free dessert section. Then you can make your own sundae for dessert with soft serve ice cream or enjoy the different baked goods and pies. Across from all this is the fresh fruit, home made soups and bread area. Ribs, meat loaf, at least two types of fish, corn on the cob, baked sweet potatoes, string beans etc. and then you come to the Comfort Food station. Moving on to the gravies, toppings, sides, veggies, etc. Then you get to the Carving Station where there is always 2 0r 3 meats which are carved to order. Home made pizza of different types, Lasagna, and various Italian specialties which change daily. While that is cooking you can continue down the line to the Italian Station. When it is complete he delivers it to your table so you don't have to stand around waiting for it. You pick the type of pasta and sauce (I like pink) and tell him how much seasonings - chili flakes, garlic, etc. This is my favorite! You select the meats and veggies and hand it to the chef. Down the way from the grill is the Pasta Station. You can opt for a few dollars more to get a special cut Prime Rib or Lobster Tails. There are Asian dishes and fresh sea food as well. Across from the salads is the grill where they will grill you a steak, sausage or sometimes fish or chicken and deliver it to your table. There's always a big bowl of peel-n-eat shrimp, too. Now for the details:My first stop is the truly fresh salad bar. Membership is free so I suggest you get a card at the promotions booth before you go to the buffet. You will get a $2 discount if you are a Calder Club member. Even if you don't go for the gambling and/or racing you can definitely enjoy the buffet. The latest incarnation is by far the best deal for $14.99 you can get anywhere in the Tri-County area. The Tropical Gardens Buffet has gone through many permutations. This is the most hidden gem for a casino I know.
